Always sunny in Philadelphia…

…but it’s been raining in London all week! Seriously, all week. From last Sunday, when I experienced my first ever thunder/lightning storm in London, it’s rained for a significant portion of each day since. When it wasn’t raining, it was gray/white out. But when I woke up this morning, my room didn’t look nighttime so I opened the shades, and BOOM! Sun! Finally! I’m so excited I don’t even know what to do with myself!

In other news, I’m now 1/3 done with this semester of school. Got my first two assignments yesterday (during a 7 hr school day), which are both due on…wait for it….Valentines Day! Talk about heartless. (ba-dum-tissss) Good thing my date is 3887.8 miles away! We plan on eating similar food while Skyping. And I plan on getting my papers done well in advance…hopefully!

Not much else is new, I’ve mostly been settling into a routine. Trying to incorporate healthy eating and exercise can be harder than it seems! I went to a concert last Friday night, which was a lot of fun! The artist is called Elliphant, whom I hadn’t heard of until a friend invited me. She’s from somewhere Scandinavian I think, but the music is a very Jamaican sounding rap, like accent and all. Pretty fun! And the concerts here get done a lot earlier than at home so I was back in my bed by like midnight! Then on Saturday, Rose, Rachel, and Cass came down from Worcester for the day with their study abroad group. They had one other friend with, and we made a plan to meet at the Starbucks across the street from the Chipotle by Oxford Circus tube station. I got to the area and was walking around, first found the Chipotle which was pretty empty, then backtracked, looked in Starbucks (also no sign of them) so I figure maybe they were in the Chipotle. I go in, look around, and decide to sit down because I felt really awkward! I text Rose asking where they are and she says at Chipotle, so I map search and sure enough, there’s another Chipotle about 7 min away from me. So I head that way, and when I get there I see the same setup- Chipotle with a Starbucks across the street! Darn Central London and it’s similar streets! We were all game for a day spending minimal money so we did lots of walking around, making our way from that Chipotle to Hyde Park and weaving our way back. By the time we got headed back to Chipotle I was exhausted–spent WAY too much time on my feet in those two days. So I headed back home, and not 10 minutes after I got back to my room did that torrential downpour start. Which has been on and off since then.

A couple of weeks ago I got together with Cameron, a friend from Gustavus, studying at UCL this spring. I showed him the touristy bits of the city, did the nice walk from Tower Bridge to Westminster! Since it was a Saturday it was CROWDED so we decided to call it quits on the public scene, then came back to my flat, watched a movie, and had some dinner!

Now I’m about to head grocery shopping, reveling in the nice weather! Also because I’ve severely neglected grocery shopping for the last week and a half. PS- remember that paper I did in one day? Got a solid B! Point 1 to procrastination! 🙂 Hopefully I’ll have more fun updates in weeks to come! ❤
